HITS Winter Circuits in Ocala, Thermal and Arizona Kick Off Qualifying Period

The qualifying period for the biggest Grand Prix in America is about to get underway with the start of the three HITS Winter Circuits in Ocala, Thermal and Arizona. This winter, HITS horse shows will offer 36 opportunities to qualify for the Pfizer $1 Million Grand Prix, which will take place on September 12 at HITS Saugerties.

HITS OCALA WINTER CIRCUIT - January 20 - March 21
East Coast riders will have their first chance to get in on the action at the HITS Ocala Winter Circuit in Ocala, Florida where eight weeks of competition will offer 14 qualifying Grand Prix classes and $575,000 in Grand Prix prize money this season. Grand Prix classes during the two January shows take place on Sundays, while during the rated circuit there are Grand Prix classes every Thursday and Sunday.

HITS DESERT CIRCUIT  -  January 26 - March 14

West Coast riders will have their first chance to get in on the action at the HITS Desert Circuit in Thermal, California where six weeks of competition will offer 16 qualifying Grand Prix classes and $800,000 in Grand Prix prize money this season. HITS Thermal also has four FEI World Cup Qualifiers, which will take place in the indoor ring during weeks II, III, IV and V. During weeks I and VI Grand Prix classes will take place on Thursdays and Sundays, while weeks II, III, IV and V will have Grand Prix classes on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

OFF-WEEK - February 16-21
DC IV - World Cup Week - February 23-28
DC V - World Cup Week - March 2-7
DC VI - March 9-14

*** All four FEI World Cup Qualifiers will be held in the Indoor Arena.

HITS ARIZONA WINTER CIRCUIT -  February 3 - March 14

Riders in the South West will have their first chance to get in on the action at the HITS Arizona Winter Circuit in Tucson, Arizona where six weeks of competition will offer six qualifying Grand Prix classes and $150,000 in Grand Prix money this season. Grand Prix classes take place every Sunday.

In order to qualify for the Pfizer $1 Million Grand Prix, a rider must compete in eight HITS Grand Prix classes. The top 40 riders based on money won by horse/rider combination will be eligible to ride for the Pfizer Million.
