Depending on traffic it takes from 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours. Clients can either rent their own car, or are transported from Amsterdam and then to all locations for horse shopping, by the Reesinks. The directions are easy to follow. There are many "roundabouts" off the main highways in the Netherlands, so it helps to combine map navigation, along with looking for the road signs to the next targeted town. Eibergen is a charming Dutch village, with old churches, restaurants, and a shopping area. Market days are on Wednesday, and Saturday, offering a large variety of clothing, fabrics, food, flowers, and fresh fruit harvested from local farms. You can easily get accustomed to relaxing in the evening after a long hard day of horse shopping, sitting in an outdoor cafe, sipping wine, and enjoying the local cuisine.
There is a selection of local accommodations, from a modern hotel with all the amenities, to an intimate hotel in the village of Eibergen, or a charming Bed and Breakfast by a water mill. Most hotels offer bicycle rentals, the best way to explore the countryside. If you have traveling companions who may not wish to spend the entire day looking at beautiful horses, this is the best way to explore the local region. |
