USET Team riders Sue Blinks and Kathleen Raine have been doing this, successfully for years. It is much more economical to leave a foal or young horse in Holland this way. To leave a young horse in training with Anna Beth is about $500 per month. Clients can also arrange to come visit to ride their horse and train with Anna Beth as well.
On any given day, there can be up to 300 foals, broodmares, and young horses on the property, and the farm owner can usually tell you who each one is and their breeding. There is a small veterinary clinic on the property, so that all vet work can be done on site. "This is especially beneficial to the horses, as the vet comes to them, rather than always having to trailer a horse to a clinic." Explained Françoise Reesink. With a regular worming and maintenance program, the horses are happy and healthy, and can be kept in Holland for approximately 1,200£ per year. |
