Maryanna Haymon, Warmblood Breeder - Page 3
Windsong is now part of the broodmare band and her first foal, Odyssey, a First Premium colt by Rampal, is now a six-year old in training in Germany. Meanwhile Dream produced Parant, by Hilltop Farm's Parabol and then River of Dreams, by Riverman. Through Hilltop she purchased Cor d'Elise, by Cor Noir, who foaled the 2001 ISR winner at Devon, Our Ferrari, by Riverman. Hilltop bought Our Ferrari back from Haymon and Cor d'Elise is now in foal to Reno, a Riverman son doing jumpers with Margie Goldstein. As for that list of goals, Haymon says, "In some regards we've exceeded the plan and in some regards we're behind." They have produced several horses that she feels are of International quality; they are two or three horses shy of their broodmare goal, and as for the seven-year plan, she says, "We'll wait and see. We have five horses for sale now, and next year we will have eight more. This year the economy has made it hard for small breeders to do well -- the big breeders are still selling horses, but I haven't sold anything in eighteen months. But the quality of the horses speaks for itself." |
