American Hunter Pony Classic Auction Scheduled
Willoughby, OH - June 9, 2003 - Entries are now being accepted for the 2003 American Hunter Pony Classic Auction which will be held on August 4, in Willoughby, Ohio, in conjunction with the State Line Tack/USAE Pony Finals. This elite auction of ponies has become the major market place for show ponies. Last year's auction saw increases in almost every statistical category including average sale price, the number of ponies sold for $10,000 or more, and a record setting high seller. Rapunzel, a four-year-old gray filly, bested the previous record by fetching a top price of $58,500. She was sold by Richard Taylor's Venture Stables as agent to Nancy Moore of North Carolina. The second high seller was Hi Foolutin', a four-year-old medium filly. The striking palomino attracted the fourth highest price in the history of the sale at $45,000 and was sold by Greg Rhoades to Carlos Shea Huesca. Many ponies that have been sold with no show record have gone on to become some of the country's top ponies, such as:
AHSA Pony Finals Medium Division.
