Fabina: “Miss Oldenburg 2003”

Fabina, a full sister of the top Oldenburg sire, Don Schufro, won the Champion Mare 2003 title at the Oldenburg Elite Broodmare Show at the Castle Park in Rastede. The three year old mare, bred by Günter Bastian in Bartgeheide, is owned by the Danish Blue Hors Stud Farm in Randboel.

Out of the field of the 99 mares qualified for the show, 19 reached the Brillantring. Not only the Champion Mare but three other mares in this ring were also by the dressage maker, Donnerhall, and there were three by his son, De Niro, among which the Reserve Champion Mare, Uniqua. The daughters of dressage stallions such as Sandro Hit, Wolkentanz II, Florestan I, Lord Sinclair, Rubinstein and Rohdiamant were present as well as daughters by jumper stallions, for example, I need you, Pilox, Lordanos and Argentinus, and there were also two half Thoroughbred mares by Noble Roi xx and Rivero xx.

Jan Pedersen, President of the Danish Warmblood Association and President of WBFSH (World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses), who was the show's commentator, officially congratulated Oldenburg breeders for their "magnificent Champion Mare", who earned every inch of her title. In view of the overall class of the mares presented, he also attested that with this kind of success in breeding, Oldenburg's future looked very rosy indeed.

"She's clearly the Champion." Fabina is at home at the Blue Hors Stud Farm where her full brother, Don Schufro, also stands at stud. Because of his great achievements in breeding and sport, Don Schufro has been named Denmark's "Stallion of the Year 2003". This liver chestnut, who meanwhile wins ribbons in Grand Prix, has had an index of 174 for two years in a row now in the German list of estimated breeding value in dressage.
