2003 Rastede Mare Show

Brilliant Ring

Judges - left: Uwe Heckmann According to Jan Pedersen, the crop of mares shown in Rastede was at a very high overall level: "functionality, presence, movement and beauty" is what distinguishes these mares – the result of Oldenburg's highly successful, open and very liberal breeding policy.

Just a look at the "family ties" in the pedigrees of the mares in the Brilliant ring shows that Oldenburg has systematically pursued performance breeding policies: The dam of the Reserve Champion Mare, Uniqua, is a full sister of Figaro's Boy, a highly successful jumper ridden by Ludger Beerbaum.

UniqueThe granddam of Walzertanz, the mare on 7th place, named Walzerschritt, was an Oldenburg Champion Mare in her day. And Elegant, who took 8th place (bred by Edith and Ernst Fleitmann in Großenkneten), is a full sister of the 2001 Champion Mare, Edina. She comes from the line that also produced the top dressage horses, Aleppo-S-OLD and Rainier. The dam of the jumper mare, Cypria, is also the dam of two approved stallions, Raschid N and Rover.
