2003 Rastede Mare Show

State Premium Candidates

Rhapsody QueenThe 99 strong lot of three and four year old Oldenburg mares that were awarded State Permium candidacy was dominated by the "D" bloodline: starting with the line founder, Donnerhall (12 mares), through his sons, De Niro (14), Don Gregory (4), and Donatelli (1), to his grandson, Day Dream (1).

Also highly represented was the "R" line: while Rubinstein presented three mares and his sons were also highly visible – Rohdiamant was the sire of three and Royal Diamond and Ronaldo had one each – his grandson, Royal Dance, stole the show: this 1998 Champion Stallion sired seven State Premium candidates just in his first crop! Sandro Hit, the third "force" among Oldenburg's dressage artists, was found on the sire's side in the pedigrees of ten mares in total.

The breeding policy for improving Oldenburg jumping lines is paying off handsomely: ten mares in the broodmare performance test received a score of 9.0 or better, three of them even receiving the highest score of 10.0 (by Landor S, Baloubet du Rouet and Pilox). The other sires found in Rastede, besides those already mentioned, were Acord II, Akribori, Contender, Cordalmé Z, Landsieger I, Looping and Raphael.

A total of 40 different stallions put their daughters on show in Rastede 2003. In spite of the clear emphasis placed on proved lines, sufficient variety of bloodlines is still ensured.
