The breeding of Danish warmblood horses has become an international affair, so not only can you see young stallions of all the well-known German and French bloodlines at the Stallion Show itself but you can also now see Danish-bred horses at many of the top competitions throughout the world. For example, at the Olympic Games in 2000 there were horses carrying the crown and the wave brand of Dansk Varmblod in the dressage teams representing Australia (Mary Hanna's Limbo); Austria (Peter Stefan's Bon Voyage 2); England (Emile Faure's Rascher Hopes), Ireland (Heike Holstein's Royale); Switzerland (Daniel Ramseier's Rali Baba) and Denmark (Morten Thomsen's Gay and Anne van Olst's Dempsey). Unfortunately Kyra Kyrklund of Finland and Louise Nathhorst of Sweden were not able to start with their Danish horses Lillmarkens Arkibal and Guiness, although they had both qualified. And last but by no means least, Albert Voorn from The Netherlands won the silver medal in jumping on the Danish stallion Lando (pictured), proving without doubt that the Danish breeders skilful use of the best jumping sires in Europe over the past 10-15 years now means that they are now producing world class showjumpers too. In fact, Danish warmbloods have been included in no less than nine European national teams in the past 12 months. Per Høst-Madsen
