The World, According to Garth Harrison
by Shaana Pritchard

At "C" Track Right into the local riding center four miles from Garth's home. Not a large place, but the only place for any type of riding available for teaching beginner lessons to the young children of Capetown. There were many horses that most were kept in a big lot but the horses were well fed, and groomed by those "working students" including Garth. Garth would get off the school bus at the center, and lead beginner riders for three hours, before being "given" one free hour of riding time. Afterwards, Garth walked four miles home for homework and chores. On weekends, he would sometimes get to ride as much as two to three hours. Dad was right: This is just a passing fancy.

At "B" Circle Right 20 Meters around the farm that Garth's father bought after his new business improved. Seems his one young son still hadn't quit this "passing fancy", and Garth's father decided it was time for a larger home for his family. Besides, this farm came with horses already. Perhaps this would keep Garth home more to help with chores. Garth: "This farm came with five very unsuitable South African Crossbred Mongrel Equines, including a stallion turned out with the mares who, naturally, were all in foal." Such a deal Garth thought!
