North Carolina Sneaks Over the Line

For many North Carolinians, the Region III ABICS were a no-brainer. Declare for another finals outside your home region (NC is Region I) by July 1, and you're in. Raleigh over Labor Day… or Camden in cool November? Not a hard decision for those just "north of the border".

But the competitive Region III riders didn't let these "outlanders" win much. An "almost too close to call" Junior/ Young Rider PSG championship was decided after the decimal, with North Carolina's Lauren Jump (Juri Gagarin, 64.6%) edging out Georgia's Kayce Redmond (Lupin 64.2%) for the title. Jump was a member of the Region I Young Rider team at the NAYRC two months ago.

Danielle Veasy of Raeford and her 5-year old Tom Collins, placed 6th in a huge training level amateur championship, and 8th in an even larger first level championship. The pair were coming off a BLM win and a great season, but poor Tom Collins had a touch of dehydration colic on Saturday in the unseasonable warm spell (high 70's). Great for those Floridians! North Carolinians were sweltering!

Stars from every state went home with prizes and gifts. Every championship rider received a polo shirt and saddle pad just for showing up! The parties were fun, and the weather was just too good to be true. A great way to cap off a show season, see you in Florida after Christmas?
