Dressage in the Rockies Profile - Sue Halasz

Sue Halasz and Inca Dazzle the Crowd

Sue Halasz and IncaWith a Fiesta Competitor's Party hosted by High Prairie Farm's Helen Krieble, in full swing, a competitive line up of entries entertained the crowd on a golden afternoon at Dressage in the Rockies, with a view of Pike's Peak in the background.

Inca (by a Dutch TB Staros), a chestnut Dutch gelding owned by Barbara McElnea of Carbondale, dominated the Intermediaire tests. He won the I-1 Freestyle with a 70.625 (total of 14.125 pts) the I-1 test with a 66.5.

"He is a workaholic," confirmed Halasz. He goes out there and does his job. He just carries on. He's been getting better, he's gotten more relaxed and consistent in the ring. He has an incredible willing nature and is a very forward horse with a lot of his own energy, so I don't have to work very hard to produce that energy."

His difficulty is he gets nervous and hot and worried in the ring, especially about plants and letters, so he can spook a little bit. "He gets a little over responsive to my leg," said Halasz, "so I have to ride really quiet and keep things very calm for him. He is light, forward and elegant, he tries his hardest all the time."
