Dressage at Devon Presents “The Olympic Experience” Forum

With Chef d’Equipe Jessica Ransehousen and Midge Leitch VMD at the 30th annual Dressage at Devon, September 29th at 7:30 p.m.

Dr MidgeWhat does it take to get a horse set to travel across the globe? How does competition in the most visible international venue change a rider’s approach? Why are the Olympic Games more than a competition? Olympic veterans Jessica Ransehousen and Midge Leitch will offer an insider’s view to these and other topics at The Olympic Experience, a forum presented by Dressage at Devon on Wednesday, September 29th.

Jessica Ransehousen is an “S” International Judge, as well as an F.E.I. “T” Judge. She has been involved in judging U.S. Olympic and Pan American trials for the last 30 years. Ransehousen competed on the Silver Medal Pan American Dressage Team in 1959, and was member of the U.S. Olympic Team in 1960, 1964, and 1988. In addition to riding and competing, Ransehousen has been Chef d’Equipe for the US Equestrian team since 1990, including the Bronze Medal teams at the Olympics in Atlanta and in Sydney. Ransehousen was recently inducted in the USDF Hall of Fame. She is accompanying the US team to the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.

Midge Leitch, VMD operates a referral veterinary practice at Londonderry Equine Clinic in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, where she specializes in the care of performance horses competing in dressage, driving, eventing, and jumping. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, she is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. Dr. Leitch has served as Team Veterinarian at recent Olympic and World Equestrian Games and is a member of the USEF Veterinary Committee. She has attended to the Olympic Equestrian team in three Olympics, and is currently a member of the USET veterinary team.

The Olympic Experience Forum will be held in the Devon Room at the 30th Annual Dressage at Devon Horse Show, on the Devon Horse Show Grounds in Devon, PA. The Forum will begin at 7:30.
