Californians Win Prix St. Georges in USEF Intermediaire I Championship at 2004 Festival of Champions

U.S.-Bred Mare Ties for Third

Arabella , bred by Oak Hill Ranch, finished in third place (67.20). The 8-year-old chestnut (Rambo- Lando ) was ridden by her trainer Heather Blitz for owner Denise Arroyo.

She praised the Danish mare's attitude, calling her temperament “absolutely wonderful. She is begging to do the Grand Prix.”

Blitz has also shown Arabella's sire. “Rambo has the same work ethic. He goes in the ring every day, wanting to work. He passes that on, and she gets the fire and courage from Lando , her damsire .”

“The U.S.-bred horses are coming up,” said Blitz. “Oak Hill Ranch breeds 12 mares every year, and now can use Rambo daughters as broodmares.”

She emphasized the value of breeding mares with proven performance, and she added that Arabella has a yearling, foaled through embryo transfer and sired by Blue Hors Cavan .

Nicole Perry, first rider to go in the class, tied with Blitz. She rode Rubino Bellissimo , 8, a Hanoverian stallion (Rubinstein-Bolero).
