Posted June 17, 2006 Junior Equestrian of the Year ~ Billie Derouet Makes an Impressive Debut at Third Level Dressage
Aboard Jean-René Gauthier’s 8-year-old holsteiner stallion Conelly (Concerto II / Corneto), 14-year-old Derouet emerged victorious scoring an impressive 72.5% and was awarded the rarely seen mark of 9 for her riding under the general impressions marks of her dressage test. “Billie’s natural talent and ability to learn is simply exceptional,” commented Billie’s dressage coach Dave Thind. “Moreover, Billie’s extremely correct way of riding and genuine love for horses has enabled her to bring relatively green horses to high levels in both dressage and jumping.” Making Derouet’s ride even more exceptional, Derouet’s mount, an approved CSHA breeding stallion, was awarded 9 for his gaits - also under the general impression marks. Interestingly enough, this was the stallion’s first dressage show as Derouet has only been riding him since last fall. “Under the guidance of my dressage coach Dave Thind, our training program has allowed Conelly to develop into a wonderfully obedient yet powerful dressage competitor,” commented the junior rider. More About Derouet At the 2006 Equine Canada Awards Banquet, Billie was presented with the Gillian Wilson award for being named Junior Equestrian of the Year. Since then, in addition to her exceptional achievements in dressage, she has continued to attain high levels of success in the jumper ring, competing successfully at the 4’6 level with her mare Jezzebel de Bromont. Earlier this season under the guidance of her jumping coach Francis Berger, Billie finished Reserve Champion in level 7 jumpers at the Saratoga Spring Show in Saratoga Springs, NY. In addition, the Pépinière Spring Show in St-Lazare, QC saw Billie finish 9th in the Grand Prix as well as 4th in the Speed Derby. Also recently, Billie placed sixth in the Grand Prix and the Blainville Spring Show in Blainville, QC. In 2005, Billie finished second in the eastern qualifier for the FEI Children’s Jumping Finals. Also in 2005, Billie Captured Reserve in the coveted CET Medal Final at the Royal Horse Show. Photo: "Bille Derouet and the stallion Conelly" |
