2006 Dressage at Devon

Eurodressage's "What's Happening" at Devon - Thursday

Eurodressage.com's infamous column "What's Happening in the Dressage World" has moved to Devon for the weekend where we are tapping into our network and hear the latest tidbits in the dressage world through the grapevine.

Karin Offield-Reid of Offield Farm is selling her trailer truck. Check out the ad she has pasted to the billboards on the show grounds. Offield is at Devon to compete her new Grand Prix horse Welt Adel, a huge chestnut Hanoverian previously campaigned by Irish Heike Holstein.

The famous North American SMID (Straight Men in Dressage) affiliation held its annual meeting in the stable corridors here at Devon. Yesterday, they reunited and toasted on their SMID membership with Hoegaarden and Corona beer. Names of the members can not be revealed because, just like the Free Masons, it is a secret society.

Robert Dover has decided to train his students in Devon from Mary Phelps' RV. With a big bay window in the back overlooking the warm up ring, Phelps' RV is parked on the best spot of the entire Devon show grounds. Dover tested Phelps' massage chair while watching the riders warm up. He said that the next day, he'll bring his radio and sit in the RV, warm and comfy, while training his students.

Somebody whispered in our ear that Lars Petersen and Melissa Taylor have taken up a new hobby. In July they were spotted and photographed doing some tree climbing. Talk about taking up an original hobby.

George Williams told us he is VERY EXCITED with his new horse Donnerbube III, which he purchased in The Netherlands and which flew to the United States on Tuesday September 26, 2006.

Tim Dutta confirmed that his fantastic Hanoverian mare West Side Lady (by Westbury) is in foal to Sandro Hit! Wow, what is going to come out of that mare? Here you have a Bundeschampion and Grand Prix dressage horse paired to a World and Bundeschampion. We are looking forward to seeing photos of that foal.

Susan Dutta has a new young dressage horse with her for training. It's a lovely grey mare called Manette, and she's by Master out of a Fruhling dam. We can't wait to see her move.

Dr. Cesar Parra is holding a special anniversary party in two weeks at his Performance Farm in Whitehouse Station, New Jersey. They are celebrating the 5-year existence of Performance Farm and are throwing a big clinic and party there.

Jim Hall, organizer of Dressage at Devon, said that he moved down to Florida. He lives on Pine Island (right near Sanibel Island) and is enjoying the great Florida weather very much.

Dr. Ulf Möller is back in Devon to promote the new collection of horses that will be sold at Paul Schockemohle's and Ulli Kasselmann's famous Performance Sales International (PSI) Auction on December 17, 2006. The auction takes place one week later than normal because of the Asian Games. A large contingent of PSI clients comes from Asia and in order to able to invite them over to the auction, they decided to postpone this fantastic event for one week.
