2006 Dressage at Devon

Devon Favorite George Williams Places Third with Marnix

September 30, 2006

George WilliamsOne of the Devon crowds' favorite riders is George Williams. With his Westfalian mare Rocher he won the show three times, but this year he brought along his second Grand Prix Marnix as Rocher is currently sidelines because of an injury. Aboard the Dutch warmblood gelding Marnix, Williams placed third in the kur with 66.750%.

"I am extremely happy with how Marnix went. He often goes up and down and is a very hard act to follow, but I had my best ride on him today. I am thrilled," Williams said.

International judge Markowski commented on the top three rides. "Cesar did very well today and I liked his artistic part. Courtney had a good technical part. George was much better today than in the Grand Prix."

Markowski has judged at Devon before four years ago and stated that the level at the show has changed much. "Devon is one of the best shows in the U.S. There is big progress in the show and in the levels. There is especially good progress with the young riders which is very promising for the future."
