Anne Gribbons Successfully Juggles Careers as Both Competitor and Judge
A native of Sweden, Anne Gribbons has successfully represented the U.S. in numerous international competitions. She has trained many horses to Grand Prix and helped her students achieve tremendous competitive success. Yet, many know of her for her career as an FEI “O” judge. Gribbons is rare among international judges in that while she judges at the highest levels – and indeed this year she is judging the U.S. Olympic Dressage Selection Trials – she also actively competes. At the recent Gold Coast Opener CDI-W/Y, Gribbons competed with her 13-year-old Swedish Warmblood gelding Alazan at the Grand Prix level. During the show, Gribbons graciously set aside a few minutes to discuss the challenges of being both a top-level judge and competitor. Read more questions and answers
Dance Fever Takes Hold at Gold Coast Dressage CDI
It will go down as the best Exhibitor’s Party yet. Getting down was the theme. Janne Rumbough hosted her annual dinner at the Gold Coast CDI. One again the food was catered by our own, John Flanagan, and this time he raised the bar. Bobby Flay is lucky he didn’t stop by for a throw down because to John’s fare his wouldn’t compare! During dinner, Sho Clothes hosted the Dance Your Breeches Off Dance Contest and ooh the joint was jumping. Celebrity judges included 6-time Olympian and TV host, Robert Dover, NY Times Best selling author and Grand Prix dressage diva, Tami Hoag and the lovely, Pam Wallace from Dance Connection. The MC for the evening festivities was (wow he can sing)- Rick Silvia and the amazing recording star, Christina Wallace. They entertained the audience with top shelf singing while the judges marked their ballots. Read More....
Illness Doesn’t Slow Down Courtney King - Harding Pulls Hattrick
Being sick hasn’t kept Courtney King down. Although battling a cold, the Olympic contender managed to ride through three days of the 2008 Gold Coast Opener CDI-W/Y and topped off the weekend with the FEI Grand Prix CDI-W Freestyle win with Idocus. King gave credit to her partner for helping to carry her through."Sometimes I feel like I’m making up for him a little bit, but this time he definitely carried his weight big time," she said. The pair took the win with a score of 76.30 percent, edging out second-place finishers Lars Petersen and Succes with a score of 75.20 percent. Coming in third was Michael Barisone with Neruda and a score of 72.95 percent. Read More....
Susan Jaccoma’s Prix St Georges Partner at 2008 Gold Coast Opener CDI-W/Y is a Change of Pace
In the Intermediaire I CDI competition at the 2008 Gold Coast Opener CDI-W/Y, the technical marks were needed to break a tie between Shawna Harding and Susan Jaccoma. Both scored a 70.10 percent, but the technical marks gave Harding the win. Although Saturday’s Intermediaire competition went to Harding, Jaccoma was nonetheless thrilled with Wadamur. “I loved my ride today and I want to have another just like it, like tomorrow and the next day and into the future. He was wonderful. He was right there. It felt harmonious to me. I asked him questions in the corner, he listened, he came back. I was thrilled with it,” she said. Read More....
Shawna Harding and Come On III Continue their Winning Streak at Gold Coast Opener CDI-W
Coming off of their Prix St. Georges win at the Wellington Dressage Classic I, Shawna Harding and Come On III, a nine-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding, continued their winning streak at the Gold Coast Opener CDI-W by taking the win in the Prix St. Georges CDI-W competition and she was certainly pleased.
“The ride went well. We just had a problem in the beginning halt. He didn’t want to stand. But we had good marks in the canter work and the trot work felt very smooth and fluid. Read More....

Up and Coming Talent on Hand for 2008 Gold Coast Opener CDI-W/Y
The 2008 Gold Coast Opener CDI-W/Y opens today at the Jim Brandon Equestrian Center and a couple of future stars from the barn of Cesar Parra may be visible. Two weeks ago at the Wellington Classic Dressage Challenge I, Parra earned one of those rare 10s with the five-year-old sibling of Furst Fabio, the fabulous Ferragmo. Ferragamo sort of slipped under the radar until his results appeared on the scoreboard. Then his First Level ride was the last of the day on Sunday after a brief but substantial rainfall made some puddles in ring four. Totally undaunted the young horse moved confidently under the guidance of his rider, Claudia Arnold. Read More....
