Major General Jonathan R. Burton

Major General Burton was a member of the United States Army Olympic Equestrian Team's 3-Day Team at the 1956 Olympic Games in Stockholm, Sweden. He was the United States 3-Day Eventing champion in 1947 and the Individual Military Champion in show jumping in 1947 at the National Horse Show the same year.

After 33 years in the U.S. Army he retired as a Major General in 1975 and served as the Executive Vice President of the U.S.E.T from 1975 to 1985. He served a three year term as President of the United States Combined Training Association.

General Burton was Chef de Mission for the U.S.E.T in :ontreal (1976) and the Chef d'Equipe for Dressage at the Seoul Olympic Games (1988). He judged at the Los Angeles Olympic Games serving on the 3-Day ground jury (1984). Most recently he was Vice President of the Jury of Appeals at the Atlanta Olympic Games (1996).
