States Equestrian Team Names Three-Day Event Short List For
World Equestrian Games
GLADSTONE,
NEW JERSEY--JUNE 18,1998
The United States Equestrian Team (USET) has announced a short
list of 12 riders with 19 horses from which it will select
its squad for the three-day event World Championships to be
held at Pratoni Del Vivaro, Italy as part of the World Equestrian
Games, September 30-October 11. Additionally, five riders
with six horses were named as short list lternates.
The
USET will name four horse-and-rider combinations to the World
Championship team. Two additional horse-and-rider combinations
will be named to compete as individuals. Captain Mark Phillips
will serve as chef d'equipe for the World Equestrian Games.
Named
to the short list (in alphabetical order) are:
Stephanie Baer of Littleton, MA with Dreyfus, owned
by Stephanie and Nancy Baer; Julie Black of Millwood, VA with
Court Command, owned by the American Horse Trials Foundation;
five-time
Olympic veteran and two-time World Champion Bruce Davidson
(pictured right) of Unionville, PA with Heyday, owned by Dr.
Elinor B. Jenny, Eagle Lion, owned by George Strawbridge,
and Squelch, also owned by George Strawbridge;
