Karen O'Connor's Eventing Partner Biko, Retires at 2001 Kentucky Three-Day Event Biko, the Irish Thoroughbred by Beau Charmeur-My Hansel, Hansel, retired at the age of 17, in front of the thousands of spectators who had come for the final day of the Rolex Kentucky CCI****, April 29, 2001. While her husband, and fellow Olympic Team Medal winner, David O'Connor basked in the victory circle, winning the event on Jacqueline Mars', Giltedge, Karen O'Connor shared the limelight with her longtime eventing partner Biko, owned by Richard and Vita Thompson during a happy retirement ceremony. Among his most memorable accomplishments were the team silver medal at the 1996 Olympics shown above with groom Nicole Beauchene, and finishing 11the individually at the 1994 World Championships in Den Hague, The Netherlands. Biko was also third in the 1995 Badminton CCI**** in England, and placed eight as the best US Horse at the 1995 European Open Championships. Related
