Olivia Bunn: Days of Wine and Horses
When she rode on Saturday afternoon, however, the sky opened up and the ground was saturated, and she and G.V. Top of the Line added more than 30 time penalties to their score, bumping them to eleventh place. One rail down the next day was still good enough to move up to ninth, but that first four-star win eluded the young Australian. A student at the University in Walla Walla, Australia, she is studying grape and wine production to join her family's vineyard business. She also has six competitive event horses at home. Her father Peter is also a horseman and has competed in eventing. "He's my biggest supporter," she said. "He's supported me the whole way." Her father and stepmother traveled to Kentucky to watch the event, and Bunn said that their support was perfect: they wished her well and then left her alone to focus on the competition, joining her again at the end of the day to celebrate. |
