Partners with Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation
April 07, 2003 - The USEA is delighted to announce that the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation has become a USEA Partner in the Development of Equine Health. As the leading private source of funding for equine research, for more than 60 years the Foundation has led the way in promoting the care and custody of the horse through support of veterinary research, funding in just the last 20 years more than $10 million in research on subjects ranging from EPM, laminitis, arthritis, gastric ulcers, and mare reproductive loss syndrome. As part of the affiliation with the USEA, the Foundation will look to USEA members to submit research subjects that they feel will benefit the event horse, and will then solicit proposals on these subjects from the research community. "We are pleased to have contact with such a large organization of individuals who share our determination to do well by the horse," said Foundation President Edward L. Bowen. "This is a wonderful opportunity for the USEA and its members to work with an organization dedicated solely to the heath and well being of the horse," said USEA President Charles Lloyd, III. "Eventers have a truly unique relationship with their horses, and I believe the USEA's partnership with the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation will serve to further ensure that our horses lead long and happy lives." Representatives of the Foundation will attend the 2003 USEA Annual Meeting and Convention in Boston to discuss current and future research projects. Future articles in Eventing USA will further detail the work of the Foundation, and additional information can be found at http://home.jockeyclub.com/grayson.html. |
