October 1, 2003 - Everyone involved in eventing knows that the sport has witnessed a number of changes over the years and it continues to evolve. To provide a "big picture" perspective on our sport and its future, a highly distinguished panel of experts have been assembled for a special presentation on Friday afternoon at the USEA Convention titled "The Big Picture: Perspectives on the Future of Eventing."

Robert Prazmark, President of Olympic Sports and Marketing-Worldwide for IMG; George Strawbridge, Jr., president of the National Steeplechase Association; and John Walsh, senior vice president and executive editor of ESPN, Inc., will offer their insights on eventing, its challenges and its potential in the world of sports, and suggest key elements of the "game plan" needed to take the sport to a new level.

Their unique perspectives and objectivity about the sport of eventing will be invaluable, making this a "must attend" session for everyone involved in our sport.

The entire USEA Convention takes place December 11-14, 2003. Festivities include the much anticipated Hall of Fame induction ceremony Saturday evening, the Thursday night Board of Governors' Reception sponsored by the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation, Friday evening's Area I reception at the New England Aquarium, and Saturday afternoon's USEA Awards Luncheon sponsored by Maui Jim. Saturday afternoon will also include a presentation on "The Road to Athens" with Captain Mark Phillips, sponsored by Nutrena, and a "Back to the Future" video retrospective of eventing's American roots in Area I.

Also, Industry professionals are lined up to speak on a variety of topics including: buying an event horse, pre-purchase exams, training solutions, sponsorship, cross-country course design and footing, rider fitness, sports psychology, event organizing, safety, land conservation, careers in the horse industry, breeding and bloodlines, and even a virtual riding clinic.
