Sally Cousins Claims Jersey Fresh CCI** Title
O'Connor Praises Upcoming Young Riders
Less than eight points separated the top 11 on show jumping day. Defending champion David O'Connor on Dunston Celtic (Westminster x Bambino) was the overnight leader but his horse lowered two rails in show jumping, dropping back to seventh (54.4). Yet he was glad to see a challenge from two upcoming riders. His neighbor and student, 23-year-old Clark Montgomery, was in second then with third place teenager Emilee Libby of New Jersey ready to also make a run for the tricolor.
"All of us old people have to be challenged," said the 42-year-old individual 2000 Olympics Gold Medalist who has indicated he will not ride in future Games. "I am kind of excited about the future of our young people. They are good at their basics and they are good at competing."
