Time Olympian Stuart Black Wins 2004 Colorado Horse Park CCI**
Riding his seven year-old Thoroughbred /Holsteiner-cross mare Fleeceworks Starlight in her first two-star, Black finished on his dressage score of 47.6. He was the only rider in the division to have two double clear rounds. I have a very fancy and special horse in this mare, said Black. This weekend was a good challenge for her and she proved she was up to it.
Finishing second in the CCI** was Blacks student Katherin Fredrick riding in her first two-star event. Fredrick rode her own Thoroughbred gelding Littonian. Sandra Donnelly on Willow rose from seventh after dressage to finish third in the final placings. Fifth place Ashley Demander with Edmund was the top placing Young Rider in this division.
Riders and officials praised the cross-country courses at the Colorado Horse Park, which included several new fences and options. FEI Technical Delegate Roger Haller explained, This course asks the correct questions of both horse and rider. The problems presented offer valuable experiences to riders as they look to move up. This course just gets better every year. Rider Cynthia Moore-West was also pleased with the course. It was fabulous. There are a lot of new jumps. It was hard to make the time and the course was technical and challenging, but it was well put together. It is by far the best course in this area, she said.
The CCI* Division winners included Lucy Lippon and Kilpatrick in first, Wendy Webb on Hollywood in second and Holly Johnson with The Frenchman in third.
