Mark Phillips
An Olympic Gold Medalist at the 1972 Munich, Germany Games, Capt. Mark Phillips today is pre-eminent equestrian course designer and teacher. With his exceptional reputation, his services are in great demand across the United States, Europe and Australia. A member of the 1972 British Olympic equestrian team, Phillips captured the gold on Great Ovation. He also rode this horse to win the Badminton Horse Trials title in 1971 and 1972. He went on to win the world's greatest three-day event two more times in 1974 on Her Majesty the Queen's horse Columbus and on Lincoln in 1981. He rode on the British Olympic team at the Seoul Games in 1988 after which he retired from competition. Since, he has designed the four star course at Burghley Horse Trials, the course at Catcombe CIC, which serves as the British National Championship, and many other top-level courses, including the Spring Creek Equestrian Center cross country course in Jackson Hole. As the AHSA/USCTA National Course Advisor, he has greatly elevated safety and quality on the U.S. cross-country courses. The Chef
