Debbie Atkinson, a long time competitor, trainer, and accomplished horsewoman, was severely injured in a fall on the Intermediate Course and Kentucky Classic in September of 2006. Her spinal cord was severed and she suffered a neck fracture at the second vertebrae. After months in rehab Debbie is now home on her farm in Columbia, Kentucky, with her husband Mike Wright. Debbie's injury, much like Christopher Reeve's requires full time care. She is on a breathing tube, and has a high tech wheel chair and van equipped to handle her needs.

Debbie spirits are high, and she is planning on coming to The 2007 Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event with her caregiver Christy, and many friends and students. Debbie didn't know about EAF, and in a true twist of fate she learned about it from her new neighbor, HorsesDaily's Mary Phelps."I was aware of Debbie's accident," said Phelps, "but had no idea she was living so close to us in Adair County, Kentucky. I have been on the board of EAF for ten years, and knew it was a simple process for her to submit the application and begin receiving aid. We are looking forward to having Debbie work with us promoting the membership drive which will begin soon."

The Equestrian Aid Foundation will be on the scene at the Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event to help raise funds for fellow event riders Ralph Hill, Debbie Atkinson, and Kim Meier. 100% of funds raised for designated equestrians go specifically to those individuals.

The Equestrian Aid Foundation assists anyone in the equestrian world suffering from a life threatening illness, catastrophic accidents or injuries by providing direct financial support for their medical and other basic needs.

The Equestrian Aid Foundation is a 501c3 non profit organization and all gifts are tax deductible to the extent provided by state and federal laws.

The Equestrian Aid Foundation consists of equestrians committed to improving the quality and dignity of life to our fellow equestrians suffering from catastrophic injuries and illness.

We make a huge difference in the lives of all those we are assisting, quickly and efficiently in a personal and dignified manner.

The Ride for Hope is the Ride for Life
