First Vavra Book in Six Years

ROBERT VAVRA, the best-known and best-selling equine photographer, has come out with his first, and probably his final, horse photography book in six years, entitled Stallions of the Quest.

Stallions of the Quest is a photographic essay of the return of the horse to the Americas after an absence of 8,000 to 10,000 years, on the second voyage of Christopher Columbus in 1493.

With 164 pages of photographs, and 60 pages of text, Vavra weaves the romantic story of the horses' ocean journey from Spain to the New World. With a gorgeous, gold-embossed cover, this beautiful, hand-stitched book will grace the coffee tables of equine enthusiasts, photography buffs, and Vavra's many fans. The photos are some of Vavra's best in a book that includes poetry, fine equine drawings, and a fascinating story. Equally fascinating for Vavra enthusiasts is the recital of his adventures and the famous people he has known and with whom he has worked.

A posthumous printing of an interview between James Michener and Vavra rounds out this unusual book. (Vavra first became famous as the photographer for Michener's book, Iberia.)

Also available is a boxed, cloth-bound set in a limited edition, all signed and numbered by Vavra, which includes two original drawings by Roger Bansemer, the artist who did the drawings for the book. Both drawings are suitable for framing.

To purchase the book or boxed set, visit www.latierrapublishing.com or call 1-877-947-2444. Book price is $ 75.00; boxed set price is $ 295.00. Add tax in N.Y. and N.J. only, plus $ 15.00 per copy for shipping and handling.
