Centerline Goes to the Olympics:
An Amateur Rider's Journal by Maureen Crump

Day 8: Two For The Show

Olympic Stadium

Olympic stadiumI visited the Olympic complex today which included the main Olympic stadium. It was something to see the main stadium where the opening ceremonies where held. It is huge. I got some great shots of the torch. The complex consists of several venues including large facilities for swimming, gymnastics, and cycling. It covers a huge area with a great deal of common area for gathering. There are expanses of plaza type areas with fountains and reflecting pools. Large numbers of people were milling about. This is where NBC broadcasts their Olympic coverage from.

BC

acropolisOne cannot leave Athens without seeing the Acropolis. I feel that I now have the dust of civilization on my feet. Seriously, you do have a feeling of reverence when you actually walk among the remnants of the birth of civilization. From atop the Acropolis there is a beautiful view of all of Athens out to the sea.

Tomorrow the Freestyle starts at 3:30 PM. Thursday I leave for Venice.
