Centerline Goes to the Olympics:
An Amateur Rider's Journal by Maureen Crump

Day 9: The Color Orange

Riderless Horse

martin schaudt on WeltallIn came Martin Schaudt on Weltall the Weltmeyer offspring who is the youngest competitor at this Olympics. For a moment it looked as if Schaudt was going to have the opportunity to control the ride but this year it was just too distracting for the young horse. I will tell you that this horse has the highest piaffe and passage and with excellent transitions that I have ever seen in my life so far. Basically Schaudt's planned choreography fell apart but what he was able to present showed the God-given talent of this horse. The score for raw talent at the Olympics? 69.656. Imagine the score once he is trained!!!

Rafael Soto

Rafael and Invasor were back in their favorite element in the kur. He ended riding up the centerline slowly raising his right arm for applause not disappointing the crowd who go wild for his showmanship. He rode to his trademark Spanish Music and was technically correct with technical scores ranging from 7.450 to 7.800. I am sure he was pleased with his averaged score of 79.025 to finish 8th overall.
