Amarillo, Texas The American Quarter Horse Journal, the official business publication of the American Quarter Horse Association, was named winner of the Daniel P. Lenehan Memorial Trophy for Overall Excellence in the 2001 USA Equestrian Media Awards. The American Quarter Horse Journal also claimed the Equestrian Print Media Award

USA Equestrian (formerly American Horse Show Association) annually recognizes equestrian-focused media and communication outlets that promote equestrian events and activities.

The Federation recognizes one equestrian print publication that serves to portray or promote equestrian competition or understanding of equestrian sport in an exemplary manner. Those publications are judged on relevance of subject matter, overall art direction, composition, substance, and appropriateness to audience, credibility, and accuracy.

"It's been an eventful year for the Journal, from staff additions to redesigning the magazine. We have always strived to report on the happenings of the equine industry. The American Quarter Horse Journal, founded in 1948 serves as an official publication of the American Quarter Horse Association. The magazine promotes breeding, raising and training American Quarter Horses for show, performance and ranching activities. Its mission is also to chronicle AQHA-sponsored activities and convey to readers the Association's policies and standards for both the breed and the industry.
