AQHA
Moves Closer To Providing One Stop Records Information AMARILLO, TEXAS - In November of 1999, the American Quarter Horse Association formed marketing alliances with several organizations in the equine industry in order to increase acceptance of and participation in English and western styles of riding. Since then, discussions have been started with each organization and in some cases, major advances made in such areas as uniform rules, promotion of events and accomplishments. When the alliances were formed, one of the major goals was to work with the various organizations in order to provide complete records on American Quarter Horses, particularly those that competed outside of AQHA-sanctioned events. Prior to November 1999, American Quarter Horses, which competed in alliance events, did not have those records included in their AQHA detail. Earlier this year, AQHA added National Cutting Horse Association and National Reining Horse Association money to the records it keeps on American Quarter Horses that compete in events sponsored by those organizations. This week, the National Snaffle Bit Association became the latest organization to have its official earnings listed through AQHA. "This is the result of a tremendous effort on the part of numerous people in the equine industry," said Bill Brewer AQHA Executive Vice President. "When we entered into these agreements, we wanted to provide better service to Members and Owners within these organizations. AQHA's AS400 combined with its online records service, are a great way to house earnings and performance records on American Quarter Horses regardless of where they compete. Now with NSBA coming on board, we're even closer to realizing our ultimate goal." In the future, AQHA will add records for National Reined Cow Horse Association and Palomino Horse Breeders of America. As part of these partnerships, each performance association is acknowledged as the authority for competitions and the American Quarter Horse Association is acknowledged as the foundation breed, which provides the bloodlines for the majority of horses used in competition. Working together through joint marketing efforts increases exposure of the sports these performance associations feature to millions of current and potential horse owners to. The alliances create opportunity for growth and development of an affinity for each association and further strengthens each association's marketing efforts. Another example of the benefits of these alliances can be seen in the advances made in the worldwide acceptance of reining. Over the past few years, AQHA has teamed with NRHA, the United States Equestrian Team and USA Equestrian (formerly American Horse Shows Association) in order to have the discipline of reining included in global competitions.
