Team Wrangler Tour Debuts April 19

Amarillo, Texas - March 19, 2003 - American Quarter Horse Association announced the kick-off event for the 2003 Team Wrangler Tour, a series of fun, educational clinics hosted by members of Team Wrangler.

The first event of 2003 is scheduled at the Northampton Fairgrounds in Northampton, Massachusetts during the Massachusetts QHA All-Novice Show on April 19. Clinics are scheduled to begin at the completion of the All-Novice Show.

Team Wrangler members presenting the clinics are: Randy Jacobs (Team Cowboy Cut) from Dover, Ohio who will focus on halter and showmanship classes; Doug Leasor (Team Twenty X) from Hodgenville, Kentucky, who will help with speed events; Dan Trein (Team Riata) from Seville, Ohio who will cover western riding and trail: and Linda Crothers (Team Riata) from Mooresville, NC, who will focus on hunter hack and equitation over fences.

"No matter what the person's interest, Team Wrangler Tour will have them covered," said Barbara Linke, AQHA's Director of Regional Services. "The Team Wrangler Tour is a great way for people to gain knowledge from professionals and have fun in the process."

Team Wrangler was introduced in 2002 and has proven to be a most exciting concept for race and show professionals and anyone interested in the thrill of competition. Resulting from a joint effort of American Quarter Horse Association and its corporate partner Wrangler, Team Wrangler is a yearlong competition featuring members of AQHA Professional Horsemen.

Thirty AQHA Professional Horsemen are selected based upon their standings during the previous year. The 30 competitors are then divided into three teams, Team Riata, Team Twenty X and Team Cowboy Cut. The teams compete for credits throughout a one-year period to determine which team will win the competition.
