Amarillo, Texas - April 16, 2003 - American Quarter Horses who participate in events sponsored by the International Buckskin Horse Association (IBHA) will now have their halter and performance points listed through AQHA records.

IBHA became an American Quarter Horse Association Alliance Partner in November 2002. American Quarter Horses who are double-registered (registered with AQHA and IBHA) will be eligible for year-end high-point awards in both. AQHA recognizes top competitors earning the most points in any open division class during a one-year competition time frame. Those year-end high-point winners are honored at the AQHA annual Convention, held each year in March. The AQHA/IBHA year-end high-point award winners will receive a specially commissioned award.

Currently, AQHA lists official money earned for the National Cutting Horse Association, National Reining Horse Association, National Reined Cow Horse Association and National Snaffle Bit Association. Official points earned through IBHA competition will be added to those records. This information is vital to American Quarter Horse owners who compete in events sponsored by these organizations.

In November 1999, AQHA formed marketing alliances with several organizations in the equine industry to increase acceptance of and participation in English and western styles of riding.

When the alliances were formed, one of the major goals was to work with the various organizations to provide complete records on American Quarter Horses, particularly those that competed outside of AQHA-sanctioned events. Prior to November 1999, American Quarter Horses which competed in alliance events did not have those records included in their AQHA achievements.
