Bridle Spectaculars Scheduled for 2004
Winners To Receive CR Morrison Trophies
Janaury 13, 2004 - Non Pro and Open Bridle Spectacular events will be held at the National Reined Cow Horse Association Stakes, Hackamore Classic, Derby and Futurity in 2004. These events feature the same triathlon of herd, rein and cow work that make up limited age event competition. Ted Robinson, NRCHA President, felt that the new events would be a great direction for the association. He noted, "About fifty percent of the training we do on a snaffle bit futurity horse is in the herd. In the past, once a horse was past the limited age events, he'd never go back into the herd." But the Bridle Spectacular events provide a place for horses of all ages to compete. "With no age limit, these horses can continue to be shown in the herd and it really opens up a whole new area of showing. To commemorate the Bridle Spectacular events, Champions will receive C.R. Morrison NRCHA Trophies with a specially-designed custom base. According to sculptor C.R. Morrison commented, "The Bridle Spectacular trophies will have a very special look, with a uniquely created base, made of selected beech wood, that distinctively separates them from all other awards." In 2004, the NRCHA Stakes will be held in Scottsdale, Arizona March 24-27. The Hackamore Classic, set for Paso Robles, California, will be held April 30-May 2 and the NRCHA Derby, set for July 7-11, will also be held at Paso Robles. The NRCHA Futurity takes place in Reno, Nevada September 21-October 3. The National Reined Cow Horse Association, the governing body of cow horse competition, is responsible for promoting the sport, insuring high standards of competition and educating members and the public about the history and tradition of the cow horse. Through the support of a Corporate Partner family that includes Bayer Corporation, Bailey Hat Company, Bob's Custom Saddles, Cinch, Inc., Classic Equine, EQ Solutions, MD Barns, Platinum Performance, Inc., Nutrena, Skyline Silversmiths, Sundowner Trailers, National Ropers Supply, Quarter Horse News & Western Horseman magazine, the Reno Hilton, Dan Gamel's RV Centers and Coachmen RV's, horsecentral.com, Rios of Mercedes and the Silver Legacy, the association works to keep the vaquero tradition alive in todays equine industry.
