Samsung Nations Cup Preview: The Bank of Montreal Nations Cup in
Toronto (CAN)
The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto, where the annual CSIO-W
Toronto is held, dates back to 1922. Already then, national Jumping
competitions were organised. In 1925 the Royal became international
when teams from Canada, the USA, France and Belgium competed for the
Ferguson Nations Cup Trophy. From the fairs beginning Toronto
has been the last show of the North American Fall Circuit, which, before
the war, also included New York and Boston, later Harrisburg, and now
consists of Washington, New York and Toronto. The horse show is held
in the grandstand of the fairground, the Coliseum. Held from 4 to 14
November, it is with 10 days the longest CSIO of the series.
The 4 teams
competing are the United States, Canada, Switzerland and Italy.
The Bank
of Montreal Nations Cup will be broadcasted on Eurosport on 23 November
at 11.30-12.30.
FEI/ILPH Course for Event Veterinarians
A successful veterinary course took place in Kiev (UKR) from 27 to 31
October. The course had been designed as a combined effort from the
International League for the Protection of the Horse (ILPH) and the
FEI and was given by a veterinary team from the Liverpool University
and FEI representatives. Issues such as lameness, respiratory diseases,
colic and wound management were introduced by the University. The FEI
presented topics such as veterinary supervision at FEI events, horse
inspections, medication control and emergency treatment during events.
More than 50 participants attended the course.
