Sony Ericsson Title Sponsor of the 2004 FEI World Cup Jumping Finals

Milan, Italy - March 11, 2004 - Sony Ericsson is the title sponsor of the 2004 FEI World Cup Jumping Finals that will take place at the Forum of Assago (Milan, Italy) from 21st to 25th April. The announcement follows the formal agreement reached by Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications and the Organising Committee of the most important indoor equestrian event in the world that this year, for the first time ever, is held in Italy.

The partnership between the worldwide known company established in 2001 by telecommunications leader Ericsson and consumer electronics powerhouse Sony Corporation is part of the wider sponsorship and marketing programme that Sony Ericsson has been developing in the last few years. Since 2000 the company is in fact actively involved in equestrian sports through its strong team of top International riders such as Markus Ehning (GER), Markus Fuchs (SUI), Jerry Smit (ITA), Maria Gretzer (SWE), Richard Davenport (GBR).

“I am very pleased that our company has become partner of the Italian Equestrian Federation in staging such a great event – commented Mr Lars Waag (Vice President, Channel and Business Development) by announcing the title sponsorship of the Italian event- Sony Ericsson's participation in the FEI World Cup Final 2004 is the result of our deep interest in supporting equestrian sport around the world. Being title sponsor of the event in Milan appears to be the natural decision following the tremendous success of Team Sony Ericsson’ riders Markus Ehining in the last year’s final in Las Vegas and Markus Fuchs’ win in 2001. In Milan we would like to support and promote the sport by providing entertainment to the audience throughout to make the event pleasurable and enjoyable for the whole family”.

“The partnership we have built with Sony Ericsson is a great achievement for the organisation of the 2004 FEI World Cup Jumping Final as in Sony Ericsson we have found the ideal partners to support and promote our sport - said Mr Cesare Croce, President of the Italian National Equestrian Federation (FISE), as well as chairman of the organising committee, commenting the new sponsorship deal - It is very rare to find a company as such, wishing to truly support the sport through a number of initiatives with the same enthusiasm showed by Sony Ericsson”.

Sony Ericsson, equally owned by Ericsson and Sony, is responsible for product research, design and development, as well as marketing sales, distribution and customer services. The company's global management is based in London, has R&D in Sweden, Japan, China, US and UK, and in total has approximately 3,500 employees around the world. President is Katsumi Ihara, and Executive Vice President is Jan Wäreby. Sony Ericsson announced its first joint products in March 2002 and now has a full product portfolio covering all target groups. Through the combined strengths of Sony and Ericsson and by its strong consumer-focused and applications-led strategy, the company is a leading player in the mobile communications industry.
