Johnson Named USET Athlete Of The Month For August 1998 Gladstone, NJ-August 31, 1998-The United States Equestrian Team (USET) has named combined driver S. Tucker S. Johnson of Oldwick, NJ as USET Athlete of the Month for August 1998.
Johnson won the award for driving a team owned by Mr. & Mrs. James L. Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Duke to a fourth place finish at CAIO Aachen, August 11-16. Johnson was the leading U.S. driver in all three phases of competition and he led his four-in-hand teammates James Fairclough of Newton, NJ and Sem Groenewoud of Pocantico Hills, NY to a fifth place team finish- missing the team Bronze Medal by less than one penalty in the cones phase. Johnson's performance in August follows many solid performances in 1997, including his win in the Cosequin/USET Four-In-Hand Championship at the Fair Hill International. He was a member of the USET's Gold Medal team at the 1991 World Pairs Championship in Zwettl, Austria. Johnson and his teammates will represented the United States in the Four-In- Hand World Championships at the World Equestrian Games in Rome, Italy, September 30-October 11. The USET Each month, in an effort to recognize and reward stellar achievements, acts of enrichment, or meritorious participation by USET athletes, no matter which discipline (Driving, Show Jumping, Dressage, Eventing, Endurance or Cosequin/Reining) the USET has proudly instituted the Athlete of the Month program. |
