Honors 1999 Champions The United States Equestrian Team (USET) named champions in show jumping, dressage, three-day eventing, driving, endurance and reining in 1999. Deborah McDonald of Hailey, ID captured the State Line Tack/USET Intermediaire I Dressage Championship on Peggy Thomas's Brentina at the Bayer/USET Festival of Champions. The USET squad of Debbie McDonald; Lynda Alicki of Monroe, GA; Donna Richardson of Escondido, CA; and Betsy Rebar Sell of Akron, OH earned the team Gold Medal in dressage at the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg, Canada. Tucker Johnson of Oldwick, NJ won the USET Four-In-Hand Championship for the second consecutive year at the Fair Hill International driving a team owned by Mr. and Mrs. James L. Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Duke. The United States placed fifth at the Pairs Driving World Championship in Kecskemet, Hungary. Chester Weber of Ocala, FL finished 8th individually with Lisa Singer placing 19th and Jamie Johnson of Oldwick, NJ finishing 31st. Endurance
Eventing
Kimberly Vinoski of Scottsville, VA galloped Over The Limit, owned by Linda E. Wachtmeister, to capture the final Rolex Kentucky Three Star Championship, Presented by Bayer. Riding Rattle & Hum, an eight-year-old, Thoroughbred owned by David Lenaburg of Rockville, MD, David O'Connor won his fourth USET Three Day Event Fall Championship. The USET squad of Lauren Hart of Southern Pines, NC; Abigail Lufkin of Middleburg, VA; Kerry Millikin of Westport, MA; and David O'Connor of The Plains, VA earned the team Gold Medal in eventing at the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg, Canada. O'Connor won the individual Silver Medal and Abigail Lufkin won the individual Bronze Medal with Amy Tryon placing 4th, Lauren Hart placing 5th, Kerry Millikin placing 6th and Buck Davidson placing 7th. Mike Flarida of Minster, Ohio captured first place in the $100,000 Cosequin/USET Reining Championship, presented by Bayer, riding Whizard Jac, owned by William and Dawn Pohl. Shawn Flarida, riding FrecklesTop Prize, and Shannon Raymond, riding Bingo Hickory Sans, won the $25,000 Pro/Am Team Classic. Pete Kyle won $10,000 Invitational Freestyle on Dun It The Hard Way. For the second year in a row, Marilyn Little of Frederick, MD, galloped her way to victory in the $10,000 Cosequin/USET Junior/Amateur Show Jumping Talent Derby, presented by BET on Jazz, riding Paintless, a grey, Oldenburg, mare, owned by Raylyn Farms. The USET show jumping team earned the team Silver Medal at the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg, Canada. Peter Wylde also brought home an individual Silver Medal with Margie Goldstein Engle of Wellington, FL placing 5th, Alison Firestone of Upperville, VA placing 7th, and Leslie Burr Howard of Westport, CT placing 11th.
