Elects Honorary Life Trustees, Officers And New Trustees At Annual Meeting
At the January 26 USET annual meeting in Wellington, FL, eleven individuals were elected to the USET Board of Trustees. Elected to four year terms on the USET Board of Trustees were Washington Bishop, Finn M.W. Caspersen, Henry L. Collins III, R. Bruce Duchossois, Leslie Howard, Armand Leone, Jr., Herbert A. Lurie, George H. Morris, Margaret S. Price, Lisa Singer and Eric Straus. Their terms will expire at the USET Annual Meeting in 2002. These 11 newly-elected trustees join the 33 other elected trustees who are in the midst of their terms, as well as six ex officio trustees, on the USET Board. The ex officio trustees represent the American Driving Society (ADS), American Endurance Ride Conference (AERC), American Horse Shows Association (AHSA), United States Combined Training Association (USCTA) and United States Dressage Federation (USDF). Each organization has one representative on the Board except for the AHSA, which has two. At the annual meeting, James C. Wofford was added as the second AHSA representative. Patricia Gilbert, Holliday M. Pulsifer, William C. Steinkraus and Frances B. Steinwedell were elected Honorary Life Trustees. With their 104 years of combined service on the USET Board and their significant contributions to the USET's success, "Each deserves this special status," noted USET Nominating Committee Chairman Henry L. Collins III. Elected by the Board to serve as officers until the 1999 Annual Meeting are: Chairman of the Board of Emeritus, William C. Steinkraus; Chairman of the Board, Finn M.W. Caspersen; President, Dorothy Alexander "D.D." Matz; Senior Vice President, Jane Forbes Clark; Vice President, Alan F. Balch; Vice President, Brownlee O. Currey, Jr.; Vice President, Dressage, Jessica Ransehousen; Vice President, Driving, John Wetzel; Vice President, Endurance, Margaret S. Price; Vice President Show Jumping, George H. Morris; Vice President, Eventing, Edward E. Emerson, Jr.; Secretary Armand Leone, Jr.; Treasurer, Richard Brown; and Assistant Secretary, John H. Fritz. Elected to the Executive Committee until the 1999 Annual Meeting are Balch, Brown, Caspersen, Clark, Currey, Dressage rider Robert Dover, Emerson, Eventing rider C. Michael Huber, Leone, Jacqueline Mars, Matz, Morris, Price, Ransehousen, Steinkraus, Wetzel and Wofford. Newly elected to the National Advisory Council to serve until the 1999 Annual Meeting are Linda Allen, Frank D. Chapot, Eventing rider Mara De Puy, Jeremy Jacobs, Mrs. Paul Raether, James Richards, Colonel John Russell, Karen Stives, Boots Carter Wright, Joseph Zada and Michael Zucchini. Robert Dover, Leonard A. King, Jr., Helen Jones Gordon, Dierdre H. Pirie, Margaret S. Price, Frances B. Steinwedell, and Karen Stives served as members of the USET Nominating Committee under chairman Henry L. Collins III. The Nominating Committee sought to further strengthen all of the USET disciplines and geographic regions of the U.S. with these nominations. The committee also nominated several active athletes to ensure equal representation among all disciplines. |
