Announces Show Jumping Selection Procedures For 1998 World Equestrian
Games And Other Prominent Team Events

The
United States Equestrian Team (USET) has announced the selection
procedure for the U.S. Show Jumping squad that will compete
at the 1998 World Equestrian Games (WEG) in Rome, Italy. This
procedure will also be used to determine show jumping teams
for CHIO Aachen, Germany; CSIO Rotterdam, The Netherlands;
CSIO Spruce Meadows, Calgary, Canada and Donaueschingen, Germany.
Eight selection trials will be held on five days over three
weekends during June and July 1998. The trials will be held
at the Grand Prix level of competition and scored under FEI
rules, Table A, Article 238.2, A2 (time first round). Horse/rider
combinations will be ranked by totaling penalties from 6 of
8 trials. In addition, both scores must be included from two
of the three sites holding two trials on the same day. Selection
trials are open only to candidates for the U.S. show jumping
teams for the 1998 World Equestrian Games, Aachen, Rotterdam,
Spruce Meadows and/or Donaueschingen. The selection trial

If team positions for Aachen, Rotterdam, Donaueschingen or Spruce
Meadows remain open after using the top 12 on the selection
trial Final Ranking, the USET Computer List dated July 24, 1998
will be used. Riders wishing to be considered for the 1998 World
Equestrian Games, or any of the above mentioned Show Jumping
Teams, must complete a separate application for each competition
and return each (with $50.00 fee per rider) by June 1, 1998
to the USET, Pottersville Rd., Gladstone, NJ 07934. Applicants
must be U.S. citizens, born during or before 1980, and be current
members in good standing of the AHSA and USET. For more information

The USET is the not for profit organization responsible for
selecting, training, funding and equipping those athletes that
officially represent the U.S. in the Olympics, Pan American
Games, World Equestrian Games and other international equestrian
