February 7, 2007 Olympians Margie Engle and Leslie Howard to Headline Celebrity Bartending at Wellington Golf & Country Club Wellington, FL – Show jumping superstars Margie Engle and Leslie Howard will trade in their saddles and bridles for martini shakers and cocktail umbrellas on February 19, 2007, at the Wellington Golf & Country Club. The evening, which is set to run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., will benefit the United States Equestrian Team Foundation. There will be a complimentary hors d’oeuvres buffet, drinks and a disc jockey to keep everyone entertained all night long. Engle is one of the United States most successful show jumping riders of all time with more than 175 grand prix wins under her belt, has been named American Grand Prix Association (AGA) Rider of the Year 10 times and has been on more than 20 winning Nations Cup teams. She is a veteran of the 2000 Sydney Olympics and the 2006 silver-medal winning World Equestrian Games team. Howard is also one of the country’s most prolific riders and was a member of the 1984 Olympic team in Los Angeles, helping to bring home the gold medal. In 1996, she was a member of the silver-medal winning Olympic squad in Atlanta and has ridden on 19 winning Nations Cup teams. Her accolades are too numerous to count, as she has two AGA Horse of the Year titles, in addition to AGA Rider of the Year. All attendees are encouraged to bring friends to support a good cause. In 2006, the USET Foundation awarded a grant of $2 million to the USEF for their High Performance programs, which helped the teams achieve the most successful World Equestrian Games in U.S. history. This year, the foundation plans to match that figure and award an additional $125,000 to provide for the high performance athletes and support staff that will be traveling to the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in July. The United States Equestrian Team Foundation supports the competition, training, coaching, travel and educational needs of America’s elite and developing international High Performance horses and athletes in partnership with the U.S. Equestrian Federation.
