July 28, 2003 - Byars, Oklahoma – The highly successful National Reining Breeders Classic program has, once again in 2003, posted record marks throughout the year.

The NRBC Show, held April 16-20 at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center in Katy, Texas, paid over $820,000. And the money was well-spread around the country, according to Bridget Bliss of the NRBC Headquarters office. "In the Classic alone, the NRBC paid people from 20 different states and three foreign countries," she said. "We had winners from Canada, Belgium and England - plus Georgia, Colorado, Oklahoma, North Carolina, California, Indiana, Montana, Minnesota, Arizona, Kentucky, Minnesota, Utah, West Virginia, Maryland, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Texas,Ohio, Florida, Oregon and Mississippi!"

Bliss is quick to add that in order to be eligible to win any of that big money at each annual NRBC Show, foals must be enrolled in the program, and an important enrollment deadline is right around the corner. "Foals can be enrolled for $200 as long as the enrollment is postmarked by September 15 of their weanling year," she commented. "After that, it's $250 per foal through December 31 of the weanling year."

Following the record foal enrollment totals of 2002, this year's numbers are already ahead of this time last year and the NRBC office receives calls regularly from potential buyers checking the enrollment status of prospects.

"People don't want to buy prospects that aren't going to be able to show at the NRBC. To insure good marketability for reining foals, mare owners want to breed to horses that are NRBC eligible," commented Dell Hendricks, three time winner of the NRBC and one of its Board of Directors.
