Dee Craig and Smart Like Jerry Win NRCHA Stakes Open Hackamore Championship The Horse Show classes were in full swing at the 2008 National Reined Cow Horse Association Stakes held at the Idaho Horse Park in Nampa, Idaho. It began with the Open Hackamore, and a new champion was crowned. Smart Like Jerry was ridden by Dee Craig for the Championship. The winning duo marked scores of 216.5 and 213.5 in the rein and cow work, respectively, for a 430 total. For their efforts, Smart Like Jerry and Craig won $2,928 and a C.R. Morrison trophy. Owned by Vicki Cantlon of Boise, Idaho, Smart Like Jerry is a 5-year-old gelding by Smart Little Jerry and out of Pepsi San Badger. Craig and Smart Like Jerry also won the Intermediate Open Derby at the 2007 Idaho Reined Cow Horse Association Snaffle Bit Futurity. The Reserve Championship went to Idaho native Jake Telford, who rode One Shiney Chic for Aspen Meadows Ranch, scoring 215 in the rein work and 212.5 in the cow work for a 427.5 total. The win added $2,440 to the lifetime earnings of One Shiney Chic, by Smart Chic Olena and out of Miss Shiney Cat.
