The 1999 National Horse Show's
Own Angel - Sallie Wheeler

Sallie WheelerThe National Horse Show's own angel, Sallie Wheeler who brought the National back to Madison Square Garden after seven years at New Jersey's Meadowlands and her husband Kenny, the dean of the hunter trainers, threw a Millenium Party after the Friday night show. The Wheelers sat with show manager emeritus Honey Craven, greeting hundreds of friends and exhibitors in private function rooms at Madison Square Garden.

As a small band played, people helped themselves to an awesome buffet. There was a table overflowing with seafood, with all the giant shrimp and huge crab legs you could eat; a station where pasta was cooked to order and another stop where chefs carved beef roasts, Desserts were just as lavish; a display of exotic fruits brightened that table, where cakes and small pastries provided an unending supply of calories. The party went on until well past midnight, as horsepeople decided to ignore the fact they had to get up in a few hours and just devoted themselves to having a good time.

Shown are the Wheelers, enjoying themselves as much as their guests at the party.
