Kimberly Frey Wins In Upperville Upperville, VA - June 9, 2002 - Kimberly Frey of Hume, VA won the $50,000 Budweiser Upperville Jumper Classic Grand Prix aboard Bergerac, a 13 year-old Selle Frances Chestnut gelding owned by Kathrine Miracle and Overlook Farm. Frey won hands down, as only three qualified for the jump-off. Frey and Bergerac had double clear rounds and the fastest time in the jump off of 40.160 seconds, better than three full seconds faster than Candice King aboard the 9 year-old Belgium Warmblood, Quintin. Quintin, owned by Elizabeth Johnson and King finished in second place with double clear rounds and a jump-off time of 44.300 seconds. Third place went to 2001 US Equestrian of the year, Todd Minikus of Loxahatchee, FL and Gardenio, a 9 year old black Hannovarian gelding owned by YZ Partners of Wellington, FL. Minikus and Gardenio crossed the timers in 43.980, faster than King but pulled an unfortunate rail for a four-fault finish. This win for Frey will move her into first place standing for AGA Rider of the year and her mount Bergerac into second place standing for AGA Horse of the year. 2002/2003
