Beerbaum
Strikes Gold at the 2002 CHIO Aachen Grand Prix
Aachen,
Germany, June 30 - In front of the eyes of CHIO Aachen's honored guest,
Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, Ludger Beerbaum polished off a successful
week of competition at the World Equestrian Festival - CHIO Aachen 2002,
winning the Prize of Aachener und Münchener Versicherungen - The
Grand Prix of Aachen, with the 11-year-old Hannoverian stallion, Goldfever
3 (by Grosso Z) owned by Germany's Chef d'Equipe, Madeleine Winter-Schulze.
It was a record-breaking week for CHIO Aachen with over 300,500 in attendance,
as well as for Beerbaum whose Grand Prix victory was the third win of
the week, earning him the Hans-Günter Winkler with the Halla-Challenge
Trophy for the tournament's best rider. Together with Germany's Dressage
Nadine Capellmann, and four-in hand Driving Champion Michael Freund,
Beerbaum, like last year, were elected the public favorites by the readers
of the Aachener Zeitung, making the traditional victory lap aboard Freund's
carriage.
The same
week Beerbaum was making new records, his beloved Ratina Z the now 20-year-old
Hannoverian mare, gave birth to a foal, by Artos, the approved Belgian
stallion of World Cup Show Jumping fame.
