Billy Worthington Winns 2002 Pony Jumper National Championship - Zone 5 Wins Team Championship August 13, 2002 - Billy Worthington, 12, of Averill Park, New York was the winner of the 2002 Pony Jumper National Championship, individual competition, which has been named as a USA Junior Olympic - Equestrian event. Riding Marjorie Ritzer's Byrnadette, he bested the field of riders from across the nation to take top honors in the individual competition. Billy also displayed the best classical jumping style during the three days of competition and was honored with the Short Stop Perpetual Trophy donated by Bill Moroney for the Style Award. As the individual champion, Billy was awarded the Swan Creek Farm Perpetual Trophy donated by Bill Moroney in honor of Alvin and Patsy Topping, Todd Minikus children's jumping saddle from Verhan Saddlery, a Triple Crown Custom Cooler, a bucket with samples of Bickmore Health and Leather Care Products, and a vest donated by Romfh Equestrian Apparel.

Rebecca Young, 13 of Kirkland, Illinois, riding Simply Irresistable,
Morgan Kennedy, 12, of Petoskey, Michigan, riding Tiger Lilly, Elizabeth
Solch, 12, of Cincinnati, Ohio, riding Sapphire, and Ryan Sassmannshausen,
10, of St. Charles, Illinois, riding TNT brought home the gold in this
USA Junior Olympic-Equestrian competition and were awarded the Willow
Grove Farm Perpetual Trophy donated by Bill Moroney in honor of his
parents, Edward and Lorraine Moroney. |
