World Cup Veteran Chris Kappler Wins at Devon Devon, PA - September 15, 2002 - World Cup Veteran, Chris Kappler of Pittstown, NJ won the $60,000 American Gold Cup Grand Prix aboard Royal Kaliber, a 10 year-old Dutch-bred stallion owned by Kathy Kamine and Chris Kappler. Kappler bested a field of 27 starters with double clear rounds and the fastest time in the jump off of 42.38 seconds. 2000 Olympian, Margie Engle of Wellington, FL finished in second place with double clear rounds and just over 2 seconds behind Kappler in 44.48 seconds aboard Hidden Creek's Laurel, a 14 year-old Dutch-bred mare, owned by Hidden Creek Farm. McLain Ward and Rio placed third after turning in the second fastest time of 42.56 seconds, but pulled a rail for a 4 fault finish.
